Agrarian India shows a vast majority of the population still being dependent on land-based livelihood. For the bulk of rural households, farming is still a dominant occupation. Access to land and livelihood therefore should be viewed to link welfare improvement and poverty alleviation.
Opportunity – The National Livelihood Rural Mission span 48 million households and plan to reach 100 million households by 2024.
To Suvarna Trust, rural livelihood is a key engagement. The strategies include education to the farmer community about groundwater conservation rainwater conservation, drip irrigation, dry land farming, use of bio-fertilizers, activities of animal husbandry, cottage industries, horticulture, and fishing activities. Several interventions are designed to make farming sustainable and efficient. We also coordinate and facilitate government subsidies and schemes for the farmers to avail them through a special committee engaged for this purpose.
