INSTITUTIONS

Tulu community hails from Tulunadu, an undivided district of Dakshina Kannada in Karnataka and Kasargod district in Kerala. Tulunadu has its distinct identity, language, folklore, and culture. Tulu is their common spoken language, although officially they use Kannada and Malayalam.

Opportunity: The community faces cultural marginal issues due to the intertwining of two different cultures. The linguistic isolation also gives rise to challenges in accessing government services.

For the founder of Suvarna Trust who hails from Tulunad, overcoming this deprivation of the State’s assistance was a primary objective. Efforts are in pipeline to establish and administer educational institutions for this linguistic minority.
